Manufacturing is currently undergoing a revolution. Thanks to a new level of linkage between computers, data, and things we are seeing radical changes and innovations in how things are made. These developments are critical to the Swiss industry.
The program of the Strategic Focus Area (SFA) Advanced Manufacturing aims to enable Switzerland’s scientific and technical community to contribute at the most advanced level to these developments. It is to drive the institutions of the ETH Domain to team up, collaborate in exploratory research projects, and build the knowledge and infrastructure to position Switzerland as a leader in this domain. |

On 5 February 2021, the Steering Committee (SC) met to decide which projects will be funded by the SFA-AM in the period 2021-2024. Based on the international reviews, the evaluation of the SC members and the discussions during the meeting, the SC selected eight projects out of the 15 submitted full proposals. The SC judged these eight projects as the most attractive and promising projects. However, the quality of all 15 submitted full proposals were extremely high. The consortia of the selected eight interdisciplinary research projects will receive funding of in total more than 12 million CHF. The projects will start in the second quarter 2021. 15 Pre-Proposals selected
More than 120 Principal Investigators (PIs) and senior scientists across the ETH Domain teamed up and formed 33 project consortia, which submitted a pre-proposal in the 2020 call for project proposals. The members of the Steering Committee (SC) evaluated each pre-proposal individually based on the defined selection criteria. On 12 October 2020, the SC discussed all 33 pre-proposals and selected the 15 best and most promising proposals. The selected project consortia are now invited to prepare a full proposal.
