Advanced Manufacturing in one of four Strategic Focus Areas in the Strategic Planning of the ETH Board for the period 2017 to 2020. The program of the SFA Advanced Manufacturing aims to enable fundamental research in engineering science in areas where missing knowledge or technical problems are hindering Swiss companies to use advanced manufacturing technologies.
The funds in this research program are available for Principal Investigators (PI) of the four participating ETH institutions to carry out research projects in consortia across the ETH institutions. Most of the funding should be used for hiring young talents (PhD students, Postdocs). Another part of the funding can be used to purchase key equipment that is needed, but not available for the planned projects in the ETH Domain.
As a governing body of the SFA Advanced Manufacturing initiative, a Steering Committee is formed.
