Precision Free-Form Manufacturing

Switzerland is a leader in the production of precision mechanics and mechatronics, in the design and production of machine tools, and in other areas of high-tech industry. The ability to produce complex parts, components, machines and devices to high precision and high perfection is in these areas of paramount importance.

Solid freeform processes, which are now being developed with great intensity across all materials classes (polymers, metals, ceramics, multi-materials including composites), do not yet meet required levels of dimensional and microstructural precision to address the needs of these branches of Swiss industry.

We aim to support a collaborative platform and research effort that will develop the hardware, the processes and the know-how enabling the cost-effective production of small parts to high dimensional and structural accuracy, across materials classes.
